Spout Stiff to Move? Here’s a Quick Fix

If the spout on your Bidbury & Co kitchen tap feels stiff to swivel, it’s usually not a fault—it’s just in need of a little attention.

Over time, or if the tap has been stored for a while, the food-safe silicone lubricant at the base of the spout can dry out. This lubricant is essential to help the internal rubber seals glide smoothly.

To fix:

  • Unscrew the collar at the base of the spout.
  • Gently pull the spout upwards to remove it from the tap body.
  • Apply a generous amount of food-safe silicone lubricant around the base of the spout, focusing especially on the rubber rings and any plastic collars.
  • Reinsert the spout and rotate it back and forth to distribute the lubricant evenly.

Your spout should now swivel smoothly and freely.
